Josh Barnett faces Sean Plott in epic duel

Although a mixed martial arts competitor spends most of their lives in the gym, they sometimes engage in hobbies that you would never expect them to. That’s the case with former UFC Heavyweight champion “The Warmaster” Josh Barnett, who faced one of his hardest challenges – not in the cage but in a field of magic.

The Warmaster appeared on an episode of Geek & Sundry’s “Magic The Gathering: Spellslingers” where he played Sean Plott in a game of “Magic.”

During the episode, Barnett said he has been playing “Magic” since the beginning. He said his signature deck is comprised of red and black.

I’m not that surprised that Barnett is a fan of “Magic.” It’s a game that’s been around long enough that even the most unsuspecting person plays.

The video is 20 minutes long and I won’t spoil who wins. If you’re a fan of “Magic” you’ll appreciate some of the jargon that Barnett uses. If you’re not a fan, the match is entertaining as Barnett and Plott tell an entertaining narrative to go along with their battle. If I knew “Magic” could be played like this, I might have played the game more.

In combat sports competition, Barnett will face former UFC and Pride star Dean Lister at the Metamoris 4 event, Aug. 9.
