Jake Shields is scheduled (for a 2nd time) to make his WSOF debut, his opponent will be WSOF Canada Welterweight champion, Ryan Ford and the fight will take place on Canadian soil. The bout scheduled for WSOF 14 on October 11th in Edmonton, Alberta at the Edmonton Expo Centre.
Jake Shields (29-7-1, 1 NC), originally scheduled to make his debut for World Series of Fighting at WSOF 11, opposite Jon Fitch, however a shoulder injury forced the former Strikeforce Middleweight champion out of the bout. Shields signed with WSOF in April following his release from the UFC, where the former welterweight title challenger went 4-3 with 1 no-contest. Last competing in March, Shields had his 4-fight unbeaten streak snapped by Hector Lombard in a decision loss.
Ryan Ford (22-4) will once again be fighting in front his hometown crowd in Edmonton at WSOF 14. The top Canadian welterweight is riding a 6-fight win streak that includes capturing both the AFC welterweight championship—with a win over Michael Hill—and recently winning the WSOF Canada welterweight title.
Ford headlined the inaugural WSOF Canada 1 event, where he landed a spectacular front kick knockout against Joel Powell to become the champion.
This will mark the fourth event WSOF has held in Canada—3rd visit to the city of Edmonton, Alberta.
WSOF 14 will air live on NBC Sports Net in US and TSN 2 in Canada.
