War Machine Released by Bellator Following Alleged Domestic Abuse

The always controversial MMA fighter, War Machine aka Jon Koppenhaver has been found in the news once again. On Friday evening, TMZ released the news that the now former Bellator competitor is the prime suspect and is sought for charges on Domestic Abuse of his adult entertainer girlfriend, Christy Mack.

In the TMZ article, According to police, War Machine was involved in a 3-person altercation early Friday morning at their home in Vegas. Two of the combatants sustained severe, but non life threatening injuries … and were taken to a hospital. One of the victims is described as the fighter’s “significant other.”

War Machine has had a history of assault charges, and served nearly two years of jail time in two separate stints during 2010 and 2012 for a felony assault conviction.

Bellator acted quickly when the news surfaced, releasing War Machine from the organization.

In a statement made by CEO Scott Coker, “We have a zero tolerance policy here at Bellator when it relates to any form of domestic violence, and afterl earning of this latest incident involving Jon Koppenhaver (War Machine), Bellator is releasing him from promotional contract with the organization.

The 32 year old, War Machine (14-5) joined Bellator in 2013 and competed in 3 bouts for the promotion—winning 2 of his fights. Koppenhaver last competed at Bellator 104 in October of 2013, losing by submission to Ron Keslar in the semifinals of the season 10 welterweight tournament.
