Daniel Straus vs Justin Wilcox Headlines Bellator 127

The main event for Bellator 127 has been announced, and it will feature the former featherweight champion Daniel Straus (22-5) taking on Justin Wilcox (14-6). Bellator 127 takes place on October 3rd at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California.

Daniel Straus is coming off a featherweight title loss to champion Pat Curran at Bellator 112, in which he was submitted in the final minute of a thrilling five-round fight. Prior to that, Straus had been on a 6-fight winning streak culminating with the Season 6 featherweight tournament title and capturing the Bellator featherweight title with a win over Pat Curran. The 30 year old is 8-2 competing in Bellator, with his other loss coming against title challenger, Patricio “Pitbull” Freire.

The former Strikeforce prospect, Justin Wilcox joined Bellator in 2013 and quickly made the finals of his first Bellator tournament with back-to-back victories. “The Silverback” then suffered a TKO loss to Patricio “Pitbull” Freire in the Season 9 tournament finals. He recently bounced back with a decision victory over lightweight Jason Fischer at Bellator 114.

Also announced for Bellator 127, is the middleweight debut of former Bellator light heavyweight champion, Christian M’Pumbu (18-6), who will take on Kendall Grove (19-14).

M’Pumbu is coming off three straight losses dating back to 2011, including the loss of his light heavyweight title to Attila Vegh. He recently suffered a first round knockout loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. M’Pumbu began his Bellator tenure with three straight victories culminating with winning the Season 4 light heavyweight tournament and becoming the inaugural champion of the weight class.

Kendall Grove is 1-1 in Bellator; defeating Joe Vedepo in his debut, and suffering a knockout loss to Brett Cooper in the semifinals of the Season 10 Bellator tournament.

Joining the two fights is the previously announced fight on the card, a welterweight fight between Karo Parisyan and Marius Zaromskis.
