Matt Wiman (15-7) will be returning to the Octagon on November 22nd as he is scheduled to take on Isaac Vallie-Flagg (14-5-1) in a lightweight contest on the UFC Fight Night 57 card held in Austin, Texas.
The formerly nicknamed ‘Handsome’ has been out of action since suffering a first round knockout loss to T.J. Grant at UFC on FOX 6 in January of 2013. The loss snapped Wiman’s two-fight win streak in the UFC–which included a submission of the night win over Paul Sass. Dating back to 2009, the TUF 5 alum had w0n 5 of his last 6 bouts, including two victories over the retired Mac Danzig. He holds a 9-5 record overall in the UFC, including four fight of the night bonuses.
His opponent, Vallie-Flagg is coming off a fight of the night performance in a losing effort against Takanori Gomi at UFC 172. The former Strikeforce veteran will look to snap a 2-fight losing streak in the lightweight division, after previously winning his UFC debut over Yves Edwards.
This fight joins two others previously announced for UFC Fight Night 57; Joseph Benavidez vs. Dustin Ortiz, and Paige Van Zant vs. Curran.
