Brandon Vera (12-7, 1 NC) is set to make his ONE FC debut on December 5th, 2014, in what will be ONE FC’s 5th card in Manila, Philippines. The newly signed Vera alongside ONE FC vice president, Rich Franklin were in Manila to make the announcement on Tuesday. The 36 year old former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight signed with ONE FC in June after being released by the promotion he had competed in since 2005. “The Truth” had a combined record of 8-7, 1 no-contest in his 9-year stint in the UFC–with the biggest win coming early on in his career against UFC Heavyweight champion, Frank Mir.
Vera was at one-time considered one of top heavyweights in the UFC, and had proclaimed himself the future two-division champion (at both heavyweight and light heavyweight)–after winning his four fights in the UFC. But back-to-back losses to Tim Sylvia and Fabricio Werdum had Vera dropping down to 205 lbs.
Vera was released after back-to-back losses to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and lastly against Ben Rothwell at UFC 164 in August of 2013.
No opponent has been scheduled for Brandon Vera’s debut as of now, but the American-Born Filipino will surely have the crowd behind him at the SM Mall of Asia Arena—the same venue that has held the previous four ONE FC events in the Philippines—when he competes.
