Retired UFC Hall of Famer, Randy Couture will be trading in his gloves for dancing shoes as he participates on Season 19 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, which premiers on September 15th, 2014.
The 50 year old and his professional partner Karina Smirnoff will be competing against 15 other celebrities in a week-to-week dancing competition that will be judged by a panel of experts, and competitors will be eliminated each week based on fan voting results.
The season 19 cast includes two other athletes in Olympian Lolo Jones, and Nascar driver Michael Waltrip. The entire cast: Jonathan Bennett, Tommy Chong, Betsey Johnson, Bethany Mota, Janel Parrish, Alfonso Ribeiro, Sadie Robertson, Antonio Sabato Jr., Tavis Smiley, and Lea Thompson.
Randy Couture joins Chuck Liddell, who finished 11th on season 9, as the only MMA athletes to appear on Dancing with the Stars.
The former 3-time UFC heavyweight champion and 2-time UFC light heavyweight champion has been busy in his post-MMA career, starring in movies such as The Scorpion King and the blockbuster action trilogy, The Expendables. Couture is no stranger to reality TV shows, participating in Spike TV shows: Pros vs. Joes, FightMaster, and MMA Rescue.
