What Weight Gives Henderson His Best Title Shot?

AUTHOR: | IN: Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson, Jon Jones, UFC | COMMENTS: None Yet

Dana White has stated that he’s offered Dan Henderson multiple fights, but Henderson wants to wait for a title shot. That normally doesn’t fly with the UFC, but when you’re a fighter who has taken his lumps like Henderson he’s earned the right to wait. White has said that Henderson will get the next shot at light heavyweight or middleweight, so which weight gives him his best shot to get the title he’s waited so long for? For those who don’t remember Henderson’s Pride days he was an absolute beast. He held the 205 and 185 pound belt and when [...]

Could All UFC Belts Be Held By Brazilians?

AUTHOR: | IN: Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, MMA, PRIDE FC, Rousimar Palhares, Shogun Rua, Thiago Alves, UFC, Vitor Belfort | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the UFC Anderson Silva owns the middleweight division, Junior Dos Santos currently holds the heavyweight belt and Jose Aldo is the featherweight champion. Could we eventually see a UFC with eight Brazilians as title holders? I’ll examine each weight class looking at the possibility and likelihood of each. Heavyweight Division: This one is fairly obvious. Dos Santos is currently the champ and with his boxing skills could be champion for a long time. He is rumored to have outstanding jiu-jitsu and while we haven’t seen it yet if he gets past Overeem at UFC 146 both Mir and Velasquez [...]

Matches to Make After UFC 142

AUTHOR: | IN: Anderson Silva, Anthony Johnson, Jose Aldo, Michael Bisping, Rousimar Palhares, Vitor Belfort | COMMENTS: None Yet

What a way to start off the new year. Jose Aldo continued his dominance of the featherweight division at UFC 142 in Rio while Vitor Belfort made sure an overweight “Rumble” Johnson didn’t stop the momentum he built after his vicious knockout of “Sexyama.” The rest of the card was no sneeze fest, Palhares grabbed his signature heel hook against Mike Massenzio and Edson Barboza gave us a knockout of the year candidate with his spinning heel kick.  Here are the matches to make after UFC 142 for the main card winners. Jose Aldo vs. Chan Sung Jung Aldo destroyed [...]

This just went down between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort at the UFC 126 press conference in Vegas. Hard to say if Belfort was indeed shook (as many fans are suggesting), but one thing is certain: the champ is trying to get into the challenger’s head. The “Weigh In” on Friday promises to be even more intense. Only 72 hours away from our Super Bowl, fight fans. (hat tip: Bloody Elbow)

Vitor Belfort to fight for middleweight title in November

AUTHOR: | IN: Anderson Silva, MMA, UFC, Vitor Belfort | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort has been out of action since early February when he underwent shoulder surgery that forced him out of his title fight with current champ Anderson Silva at ‘UFC 112: Invincible.’ As a result of Belfort’s absence, we got the terrible Silva-Maia fight. Belfort has been recovering and will likely be back in action in November, according to his manager. Fabiano Farah, Belfort’s representative, told MMAjunkie.com that the fighter will not get a warm-up fight before he vies for the 185-pound belt. “Vitor will be in absolute physical condition to return to the octagon and fight [...]

UFC 112: Silva Clowns Maia; Shows No Respect As He Retains Title

AUTHOR: | IN: Anderson Silva, Demian Maia, MMA, UFC | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Looking to follow in Frankie Edgar’s footsteps, Demian Maia entered the main event hoping to pull off a monumental upset and take pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva’s middleweight gold. Silva had expressed interest in dabbling in the heavyweight, light-heavyweight, and welterweight divisions following the event, so the question was there as to if the champion was fully focused on the task ahead. Silva entered the night with an eleven fight win streak and the striking machine was putting his streak and title on the line against Maia, who is the sport’s best jiu jitsu artist, in a classic striker vs. grappler [...]
