The HP Pavilion in San Jose, California will play host to tonight’s Strikeforce/M-1 Global event, “Fedor vs. Werdum.” Fedor is one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport and widely regarded as the best heavyweight on the planet.
His challenger tonight, Fabricio Werdum, will enter the cage as a heavy underdog despite being a top ten talent in the heavyweight division.

Strikeforce women’s middleweight champion Cris Cyborg learned that her next title defense would be against veteran fighter Jan Finney at a June 26th event in San Jose, California that is being co-promoted by Strikeforce and M-1 Global.
The news was first confirmed by a report on MMAJunkie.com.
Cyborg (9-1) has not tasted defeat since she dropped her MMA debut in 2005. Since entering Strikeforce, Cyborg has dominated her competition — winning all three fights in the organization by way of TKO.

Fedor Emelianenko and his management are at it again. With ludicrous demands and track record of being tough to work with, M-1 Global is looking to re-negotiate Fedor’s contract with Strikeforce after just one fight.
Re-negotiations have kept Fedor out of the cage since November and the top-ranked heavyweight only has three fights since 2007.
Fedor was expected to be a part of Strikeforce’s April fight card which will be broadcast on CBS, but new contract talks have put off his return. It was then speculated that Fedor would face Fabricio Werdum in March. These rumors are false as well.
