Reports circulated earlier today that Rich “Ace” Franklin would be headlining UFC 115 in Montreal against Chuck Liddell. MMAjunkie.com had reported that Tito Ortiz, who was set to face Liddell after season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter, was forced to leave taping of the show before it ended. As a result, Franklin stepped in to finish coaching and that is where the Liddell-Franklin talks started. The rumored Liddell vs. Franklin match is false. Cro Cop suffers cut over eye; staying in fight
It was just yesterday that Mirko Cro Cop learned his opponent for UFC 110, Ben Rothwell, had pulled out of the bout which was scheduled to air live in the United States on Saturday night. Mark Coleman, Phillipe Nover & Tim Hague cut from UFC
Following losses at UFC 109, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has parted ways with UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman, TUF runner-up Phillipe Nover and Tim Hague. Coleman (16-10) was a main event participant this past weekend, but after his poor showing the UFC has voided his contract. Coleman is unsure of his plans — the MMA legend does not want to retire. The list of medical suspensions for UFC 109: Relentless has been released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. 11 fighters have received suspensions, the longest going to main card participant Demian Maia and Mac Danzig, who faced Justin Buchholz live on Spike. The fighter salaries from this past Saturday’s UFC 109: Relentless event have been released. Main event participant and UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture topped the list earning $250,000., which was $100,000 more than Matt Serra who was the second highest earner with $150,000. It is important to note that these salaries do not include any money from signing bonuses or sponsors.
