TUF 12′s Andy Main Wants To Be Associated With Team GSP
Andy Main was a member of Team Koscheck on the current season of The Ultimate Fighter. In his first fight inside the house, Main lost to semi-finalist Kyle Watson via rear-naked choke in the second-round. Since leaving the show, Main has distanced himself from Team Koscheck and has even joined Georges St-Pierre at Tristar Gym. Main does not want to be associated with Koscheck’s team and has some interesting words about his former coach.
Seriously Thankful in MMA
I’ve been thinking lately about all that I have for which to be thankful. And in the process, I came across a few things that are cause for thanksgiving in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Let the true fans be thankful for… 1. The WEC/UFC merger. Yes, finally, I am so happy about this. I am so thankful that starting in 2011 I will be able to see Anthony Pettis, Uriah Faber, Joseph Benavidez, Jose Aldo, Javier Vazquez, Dominick Cruz, Mike Brown, Leonard Garcia, Manny Gamburyan, Ben Henderson, Scott Jorgensen, Josh Grispi and Brian Bowles on UFC Pay Per [...]
UFC 124: Georges St-Pierre Pre-Fight Interview
George St-Pierre is getting ready to do battle with Josh Koscheck at UFC 124 this December. In his pre-fight video, GSP talks his upcoming bout with Koscheck and explains three reasons why Koscheck is a great matchup for him:
Brittney Palmer In UFC Magazine (Photos)
Most, if not all, mixed martial arts fans have glanced at the UFC octagon girls and would love to see more. The first chance to do that came when Arianny Celeste posed in Playboy’s November issue. Another opportunity has presented itself with former WEC and new UFC ring girl Brittney Palmer — my personal favorite. She posed for a spread in the latest issue of UFC magazine. Enjoy! More photos after the jump!
Hot Off The Press: Tuesday Morning Headlines
Buried Treasure
The “UFC needs new stars” internet meme has grown tiresome to many, myself included. For hardcore fans, it isn’t about “stars”, or so we claim. We want to be idealists, and believe we’re in it strictly for the beauty of the sport. That all we care about are good fights. We’re full of it. Don’t get me wrong, this sport is beautiful. We all know that. If you wanted to call Demian Maia an artist, I wouldn’t argue with you. But on some level, we’re all in it for the stars. And this is coming from a guy who gets up at [...]
Jose Aldo Presented With UFC Title Belt
When the UFC and WEC merged, featherweight champion Jose Aldo was named the new “UFC featherweight champion of the world.” He defends his title at UFC 125 against top contender Josh Grispi and will be looking to make a statement to the world. Aldo is getting the exposure and publicity that he finally deserves, and I cannot wait to see him take the UFC by storm. Below is a picture of our new UFC featherweight champion with his belt. Welcome to the UFC, Jose.
BJ Penn vs. Jon Fitch In The Works For UFC 127
Following BJ Penn’s impressive performance at UFC 123, “The Prodigy” will now be looking to get back into the octagon as soon as possible. At the post-fight presser Penn would not commit to which weight class his next fight would be at. He, instead, said he would leave the decision up to UFC president Dana White. “BJ Penn comes in and and looks like the absolute world beater, best pound-for-pound in the world, and the next fight he doesn’t – you just don’t know,” White said. “I can tell you this – he looks better at 170 than he does [...]
UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida is in the books and Fight Night bonuses have been rewarded. Fighters earning fight night bonuses at the event pocketed an extra $80,000. The guys who earned the bonuses were BJ Penn, Phil Davis, George Sotiropoulos, and Joe Lauzon. Sotiropoulos and Lauzon were given Fight of the Night. The two lightweights had brilliant ground exchanges during the first round. In the second round, Lauzon noticeably slowed down before Sotiropoulos latched on the fight ending submission came midway through round two.
UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida was an incredible night of fights. Following the snoozefest that was UFC 122, 123 provided the fans with everything you could ask for in an event. Outside of the starting match between Maiquel Jose “Big Rig” Falcao and Gerald Harris in the third round of their bout, UFC 123 provided non-stop action to the fans. In the night’s main event between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida, Rampage earned a controversial decision victory. The fight started with Machida landing low-kicks while Rampage failed to find his range. The most significant action in round one was [...]
