WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz took place this past Saturday at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The event brought in the 5th highest attendance  number in WEC history for the action packed night of fights. The preliminary bouts stole the show as there were two highlight reel knockouts and two beautiful submissions. Former bantamweight champion Miguel Torres (37-2) was on the wrong end of the bout that many labeled “upset of the year” in 2009. Prior to his WEC 42 loss to current champion Brian Bowles, Torres was on a 17-fight win streak that had spanned over six years.
