UFC 145 Main Event: Jon Jones vs Rashad Evans
This Saturday will see Champion John “Bones” Jones face-off against former champion and team mate Rashad Evans. The UFC have released one final promotional video before the fight. Not that this fight needs much promotion given the bad blood between these two — you can watch the video here . Here’s the thing , it seems to me that “Bones” Jones has become very cocky since winning the strap against Shogan Rua at UFC 128. There is no problem with a fighter being cocky, in fact it is to be expected, after all he is the champion. You have to go [...]
If Evans Loses Where Does He Go?
Saturday, April 21, at UFC 145 Jon Jones will take on Rashad Evans for the light heavyweight title. Many experts and basically everyone who follows MMA are picking Jon Jones to win pretty handily. While Evans has trained with Jones the way Jones has defeated fighters makes it difficult to give the challenger more than a punchers chance. Evans will have to manage to get inside the range of Jones, avoid his takedowns and the wild strikes he throws. That’s a lot to ask for. Jones is the light heavyweight champ for a reason and he’s made it look relatively [...]
Rashad Evans has seen a fight with Jon Jones lined up twice now before injury has derailed both of the potential title fights. First the two were going to fight at UFC 133, but Jones had a hand injury that was said to require surgery and then didn’t. Rashad joked about Jones ducking him at that point, but now Rashad had an injury of his own that has delayed the fight once again. Evans had pins removed from his injured thumb, but his doctor will not clear him for any activity until another three weeks. That timeline didn’t fit with [...]
UFC president Dana White just dropped a bombshell to the Twitter universe today by announcing the main event for UFC 140, which will take place in Toronto on December 10th. Light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will be putting his title on the line, but not against former teammate Rashad Evans like we were all led to believe. Instead, Jones will be facing former champion Lyoto Machida. Machida is coming off of an impressive knockout victory over mixed martial arts legend Randy Couture, while Jones has reeled off five straight impressive victories.

As MMA continues the transition to being accepted as a mainstream sport, the athletes have began to become more recognizable by the day. Most recently, UFC champions Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre along with Strikeforce heavyweight Fabricio Werdum have been nominated for awards at the 2011 ESPY Awards. Jones and GSP are up for “Best Fighter,” while Fabricio Werdum is up for “Best Upset.” Clipped from: mmajunkie.com (share this clip)
King Mo Is Not Fond Of Jon Jones’ “Hoe Moves”
Strikeforce light-heavyweight fighter “King Mo” Lawal had some very unflattering words for UFC 205-pound champion Jon Jones. In an interview from FightHype.com, King Mo was asked what he thought about Jon Jones going to the media about text messages he received from former teammate and rival Rashad Evans. Here is King Mo’s candid response: “Personally, Jon Jones is the king of hoe moves. That’s sh*t your ex-girl, Superhead, or Kat Stacks would do. I wouldn’t apologize for sh*t and I don’t think Rashad should either. Like I said before, that’s some hoe sh*t; petty in my eyes. So what? He [...]
UFC president Dana White has said that former teammates Rashad Evans and Jon Jones will face off against each other some time in September or October. There is no doubt that an unbelievable amount of hype will build as the fight gets closer. Rashad is now set up at Imperial Athletics in Florida with former Jackson wrestling coach Mike Van Arsdale. Rashad’s former coaches Greg Jackson and Mike Winklejohn, along with Rashad’s friend and former Strikeforce light-heavyweight Champion King Mo, have shared their thoughts on the upcoming bout. Jackson: “I think everybody has the tools to win. Rashad (Evans) certainly [...]
