The UFC has announced that the company will have a big fall later this year. The company announced that the rubber match between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos will happen in Houston, Texas and Jon “Bones” Jones will defend his title against Alexander Gustafsson at the conclusion of September to enter the fall.

Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos III was no doubt a guarantee to happen after JDS defeated Mark Hunt at UFC 160. Both fighters have had great success and has always kept the fans at the edge of their seat. In their debut fight against each other Junior Dos Santos defeated Cain for the UFC Heavyweight Title on the UFC’s very first event on Fox Sports. The pair met again at UFC 155 at the end of December almost a year later from when Cain lost his title. Cain and Dos Santos fought it out for five intense rounds and at the conclusion Cain required his UFC Heavyweight Championship. These two Heavyweights are not done with each other. The UFC nation expect to have a Cain vs. JDS IV and Cain vs. JDS V making this a long term rivalry in UFC history.

For the first time ever we will be seeing Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson and the event will take place at UFC 165 in Toronto, Canada. This has been a bout that we would have already seen but the UFC has had Gustafsson take on other opponents before getting the chance. He was suppose to face off against UFC new-comer Gegard Mousasi in Sweden but Alexander sustained a cut and was not cleared for the event forcing him out. Jon Jones on the other hand has had his hands busy. He was a coach on The Ultimate Fighter against Chael P. Sonnen and the pair met at UFC 159 with Jon Jones picking up the victory and his prize was sustaining a broken toe at the conclusion of the fight. Jones time table was forced to keep him out of action till the fall and what better opponent to come in and face off against the current Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones ? Alexander Gustafsson.

Today Bellator MMA has signed one of the most fastest rising mixed martial arts starts to a contract. They signed Division-1 wrestling champion Bubba Jenkins.

Bubba Jenkins is very well-rounded wrestler at Arizona State University and as well as Penn State University. Bubba Jenkins transferred from Penn State to Arizona State his senior season. Jenkins senior year was a very successful year of his life. He won the Division-1 with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

At the conclusion of his college wrestling career Jenkins turned to mixed martial arts signing with Tachi Palace Fights. Jenkins left a huge impact at TPF winning both of his bouts in the organization. He continued on his professional MMA career he later signed on to Resurrection Fighting Championship where he took on Jesus Adame who he stopped in the 1st round of their bout via submission.

Jenkins, mixed martial arts career has been spectacular. He has ended all 3 of his opponents in the third round all coming via submission. A very talented technical wrestler and his spectacular submission arsenal landed him a spot on the Bellator MMA roster.

Officials at Bellator MMA released a statement about the signing stating

“Bubba Jenkins is MMA’s top young prospect, and we have the optimal developmental program to maximize that talent,” Bellator CEO and Chairman Bjorn Rebney said. “Our mission is to sign and develop the world’s best fighters. Bubba’s development will be strategic and disciplined, taking all appropriate preliminary steps prior to his facing the rigors of the toughest tournament in sports.”

Bubba Jenkins also discussed his deal with Bellator MMA stating

“After sitting down with Bjorn, I really felt comfortable with the opportunity laid out for me, and this is where I want to be, Bellator is doing a lot of great things right now, and I want to be a part of it.”

Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen.

UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones has successfully defended his title against all of these men. He has five successful title defenses in the UFC Light Heavyweight division, which ties the record set by hall of famer Tito Ortiz. Jones needs to defend his title one more time to break Ortiz’s record. Still, the question is not if, but when the current champion will break that record?

Jones has been king of the 205-pound weight class ever since he defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for the title back in 2011. Since he became champion, Jones has captured the attention of fans from all over the world. While some are awed by his talent, others are put off by his attitude.

Yet, if there is one thing can do is sell a fight. His fights with Evans and Sonnen were heated, both inside and outside of the octagon. Meanwhile, his matches with Machida and Belfort kept fans on the edges of their seats.

Apr 27, 2013; Newark, NJ, USA; Jon Jones (black shorts) competes against Chael Sonnen (white shorts) during UFC 159 at the Prudential Center. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

After taking out the best in the light heavyweight division, who is left to face Jones? Machida earned a title shot after defeating Ryan Bader in August 2012, and retained that title shot after beating Dan Henderson. Jones has beaten Machida, and he will most likely do it again.

Strikeforce tournament champion Daniel Cormier, who is coming off a win over Frank Mir, could get a crack at the title if he drops to 205 pounds. While Cormier’s wrestling may be better, Jones may have the better striking.

Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson is another name that has been thrown into title contention. Although he has been sidelined with an injury, Gustafsson said he would take a fight against Jones or Machida. Once again, Jones would have the edge when it comes to striking.

A fighter Glover Teixeira may have a striking advantage, but Jones’s wrestling would certainly put him to the test.

Ortiz has also said he would like to return to stop Jones from beating his record. While Ortiz’s best years are behind him, he may have enough gas left in the tank to last a few rounds with Jones.

Is there anyone who could defeat Jones at this point in his career?

Who would you like to see Jones fight next? Answer with a comment below or send a tweet to @alstover
