Niklas Backstrom vs. Noad Lahat, Makwan Amirkhani vs. Diego Rivas added to UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin

It looks like Alexander Gustafsson won’t be the only fighter out of Allstars Training Centre to fly to Germany for a fight.

As announced Wednesday evening on UFC Tonight by Ariel Helwani, featherweights, Niklas Backstrom (8-1, 1 NC) and Makwan Amirkhani (11-2) will be fighting on the UFC Fight Night 69 card in Berlin. Backstrom will take on Noad Lahat (8-1) as Amirkhani will face fellow UFC debut victor, Diego Rivas (6-0). Both featherweight bouts will take place at the O2 World on June 20.

Both fights were reported Thursday morning; MMAFighting.com first reported the Backstrom vs. Lahat fight, while FightSport.fi out of Finland reported Amirkhani vs. Rivas.

Backstrom suffered the first loss of his professional MMA career back in October following a devastating 79-second knockout to Mike Wilkinson at UFC Fight Night 53 in his hometown of Stockholm. The 25-year-old Swede made his promotional debut in the fight before, submitting Tom Niinimaki in the first round with a Bulldog Choke for a Perfomance of the Night bonus. Lahat bounced back from losing his UFC debut and first fight with a Unanimous Decision over Steven Siler in July at UFC on FOX 12 in San Jose. Half of “Neo’s” wins end via submission.

Amirkhani only needed eight seconds to win his UFC debut, get the first-round TKO over Andy Ogle, and earn a Performance of the Night bonus at UFC on FOX 14 in January. “Mr. Finland” is on a 2-fight winning streak and is victorious in nine of his last ten. Rivas remained undefeated in November following a Unanimous Decision over Rodolfo Rubio at UFC Fight Night 56 in Brazil for his first Octagon appearance. “Pitbull” competed on the inaugural season of TUF Latin America under Fabricio Werdum.

A 5-round light heavyweight bout between Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira will be the main event for UFC Fight Night 69.
