The heavyweights did it again. Chase Sherman and Rashad Coulter went to war, stealing the show on the UFC 211 prelims.
It was the UFC newbie Rashad “Day Walker” Coulter vs. Chase “Vanilla Gorilla” Sherman and these two former football players left it all in the cage.
Sherman was in desperate need of a UFC win, having lost both his previous outings and he managed to get the job done after a close call or two.
“Vanilla gorilla” came out very light and relaxed on his feet, picking apart the UFC rookie’s lead leg with heavy kicks. After several of those kicks landed flush the damage was visible on both Coulter’s face as well as his leg.
At the end of round 1 many were not sure if Coulter could continue after limping badly to his corner. Well, he answered the bell for round 2 and came out swinging. Both men, tired and battered, threw down all over the cage.
Sherman landed shots, Coulter landed shots but it was Chase who landed the harder, cleaner shot that put away Coulter. A standing elbow, while “Day Walker” was resting against the cage, put the lights out and sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Finally, Sherman has his first UFC win after another tough fight. It was a fun affair and fans also got to see a fun heavyweight show off his skills. The newbie, Coulter took this fight on short notice and showed some great heart and determination and will most certainly be back.
It was a battle of the former football players and the crowd in the arena and the fans at home walked away the winners.
Hopefully, these two men will be back soon so we can see more of these types of performances.
