In his quest to remain undefeated and cement his legacy, Floyd “Money” Mayweather must cash-in on his experience to defeat Conor McGregor

One of the most prolific professional careers inside a boxing ring reaches its’ pinnacle come Saturday, August 26. The undefeated, sure-fire Hall of Famer, Floyd “Money” Mayweather defends his perfect 49-0 record, following two years of retirement and recently celebrating his 40th birthday. Standing across the ring from Mayweather will be the Irish-born, “Notorious” Conor McGregor.

While McGregor may be relatively unfamiliar with the four sides of the boxing ring, in a professional setting at least, he is more than familiar with the art of hand-to-hand combat.

McGregor has made history inside the octagon of the UFC, but he enters Las Vegas with zero professional boxing experience. Despite his lack of professional boxing bouts under his belt, McGregor’s renowned knockout power has reverberated time and time again throughout the mixed martial arts world.

The knockout power of McGregor, coupled with the sheer unknown of his boxing potential, remain key qualities Mayweather must not only be aware of, by trying to limit at all costs. After 21 years in the sport, 49 victories and 26 knockout victories, a relative rookie to the boxing scene may, in fact, be the biggest threat to the “Money” legacy.

Despite the threat of Irishman, Mayweather is heavily favoured in many odds makers books. Regardless of odds, Mayweather has to tamper the expectations and predictions and stick to what has gotten him to this point. Mayweather’s defense, exceptional ring I.Q., and knowledge of the boxing game are the keys to success under the bright lights of the T-Mobile Arena. While there are dozens of different outcomes come Saturday, Mayweather’s success boils down to five key areas of his game.
