UFC Gdansk: Jimmy Wallhead meets Warlley Alves in Poland
English favourite Jimmy Wallhead is heading to Poland to take on a Brazilian at UFC Gdansk.
When the UFC returns to Poland later this year they are bringing a very nice card with them that has a handful of house hold names on it.
One of those names that many fans in the United Kingdom and Europe will recognise is ‘Judo’ Jimmy Wallhead who is on the hunt for his first UFC victory. The Brit is now booked to fight Warlley Alves in Poland on Oct. 21.
News of the booking was announced by the UFC on Twitter on Thursday afternoon and later confirmed by the English MMA veteran who briefly spoke with cagepages about the booking.
I’m looking forward to it. I’m just rocking up for a fight ain’t overthinking nothing, what will be will be I’m just gonna keep on smiling.
Wallhead (29-11) is not only hunting his first promotional victory but also seeking to snap a two fight losing streak. The 33-year old signed with the UFC in 2016 and has dropped his first two fights to Jessin Ayari and Luan Chagas. An exciting fighter who looks to finish at any given second, Wallhead will be looking to add finish number 22 to his record in Poland.
Alves (10-2) is looking to snap a two fight skid of his own. The Brazilian was undefeated until he met Bryan Barberena at UFC 198 where he was on the wrong side of a unanimous decision. His most recent outing was also a unanimous decision loss, this time to Kamaru Usman last November. The TUF winner is in need of a win if he wants to keep his job with the promotion but has a stern, much more experienced fighter in his way.
UFC Gdansk takes place on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Ergo Arena in Poland and a high profile fight between Donald Cerrone and Darren Till is expected to headline the event.
