UFC Shanghai: A duo of female fights added to the Chinese card

The UFC is headed to Shanghai, China later this year and today a pair of women’s contests were announced.

In what will be the mainland debut for the UFC, the Shanghai card is one that is garnering a lot of attention and after the announcement of two female fights that interest will most certainly spike a whole lot more.

The promotion announced the addition of Kailin Curran vs. Yan Xiaonan and Gina Mazany vs. Yanan Wu at a press conference in Shanghai last night. The news was first reported by MMAToday.

Four women, two fights and a whole lot of fun is guaranteed.

Curran (4-5) will be returning to the octagon after a tough decision loss to Aleksandra Albu at UFC 214. It has been a tough couple of years for Curran who has dropped her last three octagon outings. Her last win came in Dec. 2015 against Emily Kagan. Should the Hawaiian want to remain a UFC fighter she will need to defeat the Chinese fighter.

Yan (7-1, 1 NC) is a former Road FC standout who has won four of her last fights by way of knockout. A great fighter who is dangerous all around the cage, she will most certainly bring the fight to the always game Curran.

Mazany (4-1) will be looking for her first UFC win after losing her promotional debut, which came on short notice, to Sara McMann. The former TUF 18 competitor is certainly one to watch for the future and her fight in China may the coming out party we expect. In her way, a highly touted local prospect.

Wu (9-1) brings two straight wins into the contest with the Canadian fighter. This 24-year old prospect has stopped seven of her previous opponents, six by way of knockout. Strikes or submissions, Wu will bring the heat in every aspect of the fight.

UFC Fight Night: Shanghai is set to take place Nov. 25 at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai, China and will be headlined by a middleweight fight between former champion Anderson Silva and Kelvin Gastelum.
